How to use Verizon Messages (Message+) on Android™ devices

Before you can use Calling on your Palm (connected device), tablet or smartwatch, you must have HD Voice set up on your phone line.

To confirm HD Voice is enabled:

  1. On your phone, open your Settings.

    Note: These steps are for an Android phone. If you have iPhone®, go to our Confirm HD Voice Is Enabled on Your iPhone page for instructions to complete this step. Then return to this page to finish setting up your Palm or Android tablet.

  2. Tap Advanced Calling.
  3. Tap Advanced Calling again.

If the switch is set to On, you have HD Voice on your line. If not, tap it to turn it on.

Note: You can also check if HD Voice is on your line by going to the Add-ons and apps page in My Verizon on your computer or mobile browser.

Files by Google: Clean up space on your phone

In just a few taps, you can free up space more quickly and easily than ever: Delete old photos and memes from chat apps, remove duplicate files, erase unused apps, clear your cache and more.

Use Files to see how much free space is left on your phone and SD card. Easily transfer files to an SD card to free up your phone’s storage, right from the app. Or use the integrated file cleaner to get more space on the phone.

You will always know what you’re deleting, we don’t hide behind complicated terms and phrases. Select only what you want to remove and keep the rest. It’s your photos, your videos, your files so you are in charge.

Use Files to keep enough of memory, so that your phone keeps on running smooth. Regularly, you get a prompt to remove junk or temporary files which helps you get more storage immediately.

Get helpful suggestions of files to erase before you run out of space. The recommendation from Files app get smarter the more you use it.

Save time looking for photos, videos, and documents on your phone. Files uses filters rather than folders so your stuff is organized more intuitively. Files by Google is the file manager and storage browser that helps you find what you’re looking for fast.

Search for your files or simply navigate to them through categories and filters. View, delete, move, rename or share any files. Sort them by file size to understand what’s taking space. Browse all the GIFs your have. Find and share that video you downloaded last week. All of this with few taps.

Share your pictures, videos, documents, or apps with others nearby who also have the app. With fast speed up to 480 Mbps, it’s fast, free, and it works without the internet, so it doesn’t cost mobile data. Just pair up your phone with anyone nearby who has Files app.

Files’s offline file sharing is secured with WPA2 encryption, providing a more secure file transfer. Files app uses Bluetooth to set up encrypted and direct fast wifi connection, so that you can transfer app APK or large files in seconds, send videos or pictures to your friends. Safe and secure.

If you want to keep a file forever, select it from the Files menu and back it up to Google Drive or any other cloud storage app. Save them forever without taking space in your phone.

If you run out of storage on your phone, simply transfer large files or videos to your SD card if you have one. With a few clicks, you can clean up your phone and fully use the SD card. That leaves your internal storage free and your phone faster.

Back up and Restore

Secure Folder User Guide
You can backup & restore Secure Folder data and manage it through Samsungs cloud-based service. This is done with the Backup and restore setting. Backup data in Secure Folder is isolated from other general back files.

Backup Secure Folder data

To backup secure folder data:

  1. Open the menu [] → Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Backup and restore.
  3. Select the contents you want to backup and tap Backup now.
    • Contacts: contact info (phone number, email address, addresses).
    • Calendars: events and task.
    • Photos: Image files (JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG and more).
    • Videos: Video files (MP4, M4V, 3GPP, AVI, WMV and more)
    • Music: Audio files (MP3, M4A, 3GA, OGG, WAV and more).
    • Samsung Notes: Notes and categories.
    • Documents: Documents (HWP, DOC, PDF, TXT, HTML and more).
    • Apps: Installation files, app data, icon layout.
    • Secure Folder settings: Settings, values and more.

The basic information regarding back up and restore includes:

  • Cloud Storage usage: This displays both your Personal and Secure Folder data.
  • Last backed up date: Displays the last backup date.
  • Last restored date Displays the last restored data.
NOTE – To use the Backup and restore function, you are required to login to your Samsung account first.
NOTE – Back up and restore only saves the more recent backup in the cloud. You cannot have multiple versions of backups.
NOTE – If auto backup is turned on, it will backup every 24 hours when Wi Fi is connected and the phone is plugged in and charging.

Restore Secure Folder data

  1. Open the menu [] → Tap Backup and restore → Tap Restore.
  2. Select the items you want to restore.
    • If multiple devices use the same Samsung account for Secure Folder data backup, multiple backups are listed.
    • Only one backup data exists per device..
  3. Tap Restore now.
NOTE – My Knox data can be restored in Secure Folder with the ‘Backup and Restore menu setting. The reverse is not supported: My Knox to Secure Folder.
NOTE – Some backup data may not be restored if the appropriate app(s) are not supported or no longer installed.

Delete Secure Folder backup data

  1. Open the menu [] → Tap Backup and restore → Tap Delete Secure Folder backup data.
  2. Select backup data to delete.
  3. Tap Delete.
    • You can also delete Secure Folder backup data through Settings > Cloud and account > Samsung cloud > Manage cloud storage > Secure Folder.

Show / hide Secure Folder

You can hide the Secure Folder icon and related menus by turning off Show Secure Folder.By hiding Secure Folder icons, you can protect your privacy.

  1. Drag down the quick panel.
  2. Tap the Secure Folder icon to hide your Secure Folder contents, including:
    • Shortcut(s) which are on the Home screen.
    • The Move to Secure Folder menu from apps.
    • the Secure Folder’ icon from the Share menu.
    • The Secure Folder icon from the app tray. 
  3. If you want to show your Secure Folder information again, re-tap the Secure Folder icon in the quick panel.
NOTE – You can change the show/hide setting in the following menu: Settings > Lock screen and security > Secure Folder > Show Secure Folder (On/Off)
NOTE – Notifications may still be shown by some apps, even if Secure Folder is hidden.
