View Full Version : (PC) What is a good starter Steering Wheel for under 150 Euro's or around that price?
Its going to be my first Steering Wheel so i dont want to pay too much incase i am not going to like it as much as i may have thought, but since i am getting The Crew for PC its either a controller or a Steering Wheel from the start, might aswell go with a Steering Wheel since a Mouse & Keyboard rule in most games :D
Which one should i get though, I have to be sure that it'll be usable in The Crew though, you feel me?
Should i get the Thrustmaster T100 Force Feedback Racing Wheel? Its only 80 Euro's, but the wheel is kinda small :(
Logitech Driving Force GT maybe?
Or a whole other brand, i dont know.. Please ._. i cant make a descision.
Which other brands are good too?
( Please stay around 150 Euro's, maybe a bit more ) Less is always good. xD
For a beginner wheel ( medium cost ), the Logitech Driving Force GT would be a good choice.
It a wheel that definitely supported if PC racing game has wheel support. Since I wore out my last MOMO with GRID 1 derby racing, I have had a DFGT wheel for about 3 years now. I use it with TDU2, Flatout 2, GRID 1 ( on Tunngle ) and with Bugbear new racing\ derby game Next Car Game they are in the middle of developing. Here some videos with me racing with the DFGT wheel:
This is pre-alpha footage with the AI of NCG:
This GRID 1 derby racing using Tunngle to go online. You can see how derby racing can wear out a force feedback wheel!! Also you can see why it nice to have text chat online. :)
Both are excellent choices.
DFGT will be supported by a lot of older games as well.
T100 is newer. If you will play only the latest games that one should be good as well.
Don't know about quality. You should check them out in a warehouse where they are unpacked and you can checkout the build quality.
From what i have heard is that the DFGT is a decent wheel, that is even used in iRacing. You can always upgrade to better pedals in the future.
G27 is a better choice but probably just outside of that price range. But maybe you can find one in a sale.
Thanks for the advice, i think i will go with the Thrustmaster T100, because it is much cheaper. And i'm not even sure if Steering Wheel is better for me so i think i will be better of with a cheaper Steering Wheel. If i enjoy using the T100's Wheel and Pedals alot maybe i will save up for a G27 in the future :] Ill see.
The T100's Wheel amd Pedals can be seen as a test for something better in the future :P ~ Whether i like a Steering Wheel or not, i have only spend a short amount of time on any of them.
Also ~ Purple44 I thank you for going all out with the videos ^^ you went really far to help thanks.
Thank you MadManCK you were really helpfull aswell.
I have a Logitech Driving Force Pro, since before TDU 1 came out, and im super happy with it.... so far, so good....(but i also take good care of it, and dont stress it too much). I have played many-many racing games since then...and imagine...i had bought it 2nd hand, not new.
So i would recommend it for sure.
If you had unlimited funds and plenty of room in your computer room, then you might be interested in this new Fanatec wheel Bugbear got to test out with their new racing\ derby game: http://www.pcgamer.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Haha, that is so funny.
I saw that video on the Fanatec Blog. Epic stuff.
The new customizable wheelhub is probably the best idea ever, as you can mount about every after market wheel on it, next to the cool selection Fanatec offers themselves. But a little bit out of the suggested price range i'm affraid.
Those guys at bugbear are crazy.:p
